What do I want?

The November 10th massacre revolution came, saw, and somewhat conquered the political farce that has been playing in front of our eyes for a good few decades. By experiencing a rally for good cause (no, I did not participate in the gathering, but I guess getting myself stuck for 2 hours in a 2km stretch can be passed off as experiencing it nonetheless), I am thoroughly heartened by the bold statement that WE, as the people of a democratic nation, sent out to the government albeit the dilatoriness.

Days have passed since the monumental moment, yet the aftermath seems to be livelier and more polemical than the very cause and effect itself. The leaders have been calling the people "pondans", the media coverage on the rally has been otracised by the autorities, the comical rapping scene on Al Jazeera, the denial on the usage of chemical-laden water cannons and tear gases and so on.

Everything happens for a cause. And this coalition plus 40,000 people braved the intimidation, the abuse and the mistreatment for a cleaner and fairer election. Overthrowing the government was never in the agenda, the people wanted a fair election. That's all.

Then, I asked myself. If the opposition were to come victorious in the election, what do I want from them? What do I want them to do for me? What are the changes I want to see? Can they revolutionise MY country like how we did for them by laying the foundation on that very fateful day?

Will MY country be ready to be a giver, seeing that she has been a receiver for so, so long?

I want justice. I want to see prejudice amongst races and religions out of the door. I want a balance between the rich and the poor. I want to see a solution to impoverishment. I want to see a solution to unethical men of means. I want to buy foreign cars without having to pay threefold the amount. I want my AFFORDABLE fuel back. I want to pay for summons, not for the drinks. I don't want to pay for a space passenger's piddling space adventures.

I want to hold the hands of my loved one without getting apprehended. I want better roads. I want to read unexpurgated news on the papers. I want transparency. I want my RM5 per pack cigarettes back. I want to be assured that I'm always safe. I want to see less inhumanity and atrocity in this country. I want corruption to end. I want debauched leaders to be apprehended and humiliated. I don't want to give way to badged limousines. I want to party till dawn. I want my RM2.50 Curry Noodles back. I want all Mat Rempits out of the road. I want to pay less for tolls. I don't want to be imperiled by waving Keris. I don't want to be treated as a second-rate citizen.

And most definitely, I want a bloody government. I want a change. A revolution.

If that happens, then maybe, I'll consider getting my ass off the chair when the national anthem is played.

40,000 braved the risk of losing their lives for the country. I can only hope that someone will actually bother reading and acting on the memorandum rather than playing golf or planning for the next space trip.
